Extreme allergies, dry skin - Remedies?

I have a dog with extreme allergies (to a plethora of things, food and environmental). He is constantly pink and plays the prednisone game on occasion when he needs some extra help (antibiotics as well when his itchies turn into staph infections). I have him on a very high quality food that he is not allergic too, add some oil to his food and try and keep his bathing to a minimum (because of the dry skin). He has his days and weeks where he is an itchy mess (under the jaw, belly, ears, paws, etc, scratching and chewing until he bleeds and turning beet red everywhere. I have tried sensitive skin lotions as well as conditioning treatments/oatmeal baths, etc --and he does alright, but I'd like to provide him with as much comfort as possible (and of course, I can't constantly have him on the steroids), so does anyone have any suggestions or home remedies they've had luck with? Thank you.
