Is this normal for my tongue piercing?

I just recently had my tongue pierced a week ago and yesterday I noticed it looks like its amost pulling though my tongue. Its still slightly swollen and the bar isnt long enough because my tongues a little thicker and he pierced it further back. the ring is barley visible because the skin on my tongue just kinda covers it as it burrows down..should I change it myself with a longer bar or wait and have them change it tomorrow?
