What is the difference between asians and pacific islander?

If you look at the map in geographically, the island Philippines, is part of Asia, yeah it may be an island and others may claim its not part of Asia, but what about Indonesia and malaysia? People say they're part of southeast asia....does that not make the Philippines part of Asia? It's above indonesia and malaysia, and the people do have similar features. Lets look at the features of Pacific Islanders, samoans, maories, guamaians, hawaiians,etc. look similar don't they? If you ask most filipinos that are Actually from the Philippines, they'll say they're Asian not Pacific Islander
