Why do people think they know about Mexico and the people if they visit resort areas?

exactly ... 90% of americans would experience culture shock in the first degree if they got thrown into the middle of a third world country ... i know i did ... and shocking living conditions and poor is the only way to describe it ... i dont blame mexicans one bit for wanting to try for a better life here illegal or not ... and generally from what ive seen in my travels the world over is that poor people are the nicest and most hospitable ..
